‘Our Milky Way’
When I was growing up in rural Northern Minnesota, I could see the Milky Way almost every night! I remember getting home after swim practice, hair freezing, cold and hungry. Even so, I would take a few moments to myself before going inside. I would find my Big Dipper and lil’, Ryan’s Belt, wait for my shooting star, and of course, wish my wish. I would stand there in awe of this beautiful galaxy. Did you know that there are many people that have never seen the Milky Way, or have had the chance to wish on a shooting star? I find this so sad.
With this collection, I am bringing the beauty of the Milky Way to your home. But I also hope to encourage everyone to go experience the night sky. To get out from under the air pollution and make that wish on a shooting star. We all need to slow down to take the time to observe the beauty that is around us a little more often. It is re-energizing for the soul. Like being near to larger bodies of water, star-gazing induces a meditative state. Makes us calmer, happier, healthier, more creative and more capable of awe. Makes you appreciate this beautiful world we call home.
