‘Spirits of Aurora’

The inspiration behind this collection stems from my deep fascination with the Northern Lights, a natural wonder that has captivated humans for centuries. The lights symbolize both the serenity and the untamed power of nature, and I wanted to explore these contrasts in my work. By implementing neon oil paints into my painting process, I bridge the gap between the natural world and the modern, artificial world, creating a new visual language for something as timeless as the aurora. The neon glow under black lights is a deliberate choice, inviting the viewer to experience these landscapes in an intimate, sensory way—one that differs from the traditional, static experience of landscape painting. The use of neon gives this body of work a vibrant, almost otherworldly quality, evoking the magical, unreal feeling of witnessing the Northern Lights for the first time. I focus on creating depth and movement within each composition by layering different tones and applying the oil paint in ways that highlight both the quiet beauty and dynamic energy of this natural phenomenon.
